WINNING A CLOSETFUL of trophies—including an Oscar, three Golden Globes, an Emmy and a Grammy—would be enough, one might assume, to ensure an actress like Kate Winslet her pick of plum roles. But not always. Take her latest project, this month’sSteve Jobs, Aaron Sorkin’s examination of the Apple co-founder. “It didn’t come to me; I went to it,” Winslet says of her part as Jobs’s confidante, friend and marketing chief, Joanna Hoffman. When she first heard the film was in the works, with Danny Boyle directing andMichael Fassbender in the title role, she said to herself, “I’ve got to get in on this gig.” She arches an eyebrow before recalling her next thought: “Well, f—ing great. How the hell am I supposed to make that happen?”

<L'attrice ha girato una scena di divorzio lo stesso giorno in cui si è separata dal marito>

In un'intervista su Harper's Bazaar Kate Winslet ha parlato apertamente del suo divorzio dal regista Sam Mendes.

L'attrice ha spiegato che in quel periodo stava girando la serie televisiva «Mildred Pierce». La trama si avvicinava così tanto alla sua vita che la star sentiva di poter fare quasi a meno di recitare.

«C'è una scena in cui Mildred e Bert stanno divorziando. Si siedono a una tavolo per discutere della causa in corso», ha spiegato.

«Il primo incontro per il divorzio da Sam è avvenuto proprio il giorno in cui abbiamo girato la scena. Non ho avuto bisogno di recitare».

Kate è sulla cover del numero di novembre di Harper’s Bazaar UK con delle bellissime foto di Tom Munro. Per la prima volta, l'attrice parla del divorzio da Sam Mendes:

"One thing I will say about me and Sam is that it's fine, it's really fine. I'm not going to shit-fling, there's no point in even going there. It is what it is."

"We're grown-ups at the end of the day, and however hard it's been for me, it's been equally hard for him. And we have a child together who we both love - and raising him together, jointly and without any conflict, is absolutely key. It's the only way to do it, and I've really learned that with Mia."

"As a woman, especially when you have children, one gets so good at soldiering on - almost too good. I probably had very few moments of allowing that sadness to emerge. I kept pushing it away, not even really sharing it a huge amount with friends. Because you know what it's like, as soon as you open that can of worms, it's so f***ing big, you wish you'd never taken the goddamn lid off."

Kate Winslet torna in Inghilterra per l'ex-marito, Sam Mendes

Kate Winslet, a New York dal 2004, torna in Inghilterra. L’attrice ha scelto una scuola inglese per i 2 figli, Mia e Joe, perché si trasferirà a Londra almeno fino a giugno del prossimo anno. 

Kate torna nella sua madrepatria perché l’ex-marito, Sam Mendes, comincerà a girare a novembre il 23esimo film della serie di James Bond, con Daniel Craig. 

E non ci sarà solo Mendes ad attenderla: a Londra abita anche l’ex marito Jim Threapleton (padre di Mia), oltre ovviamente a tutta la sua famiglia (i genitori Roger e Sally, le sorelle Beth e Anne, il fratello Joss) e alcuni dei suoi migliori amici.

Probabilmente l’attrice farà ritorno al suo appartamento a Manhattan a giugno del 2012, quando inizieranno le riprese di Labor Day, il film diretto da Jason Reitman dove reciterà accanto a Josh Brolin.
